Getting from Oslo Gardermoen Airport to Oslo City Centre


Oslo Airport Gardermoen (OSL)/Oslo Lufthavn is the main airport serving Oslo, the capital city of Norway. One of the main transportation hubs in the city centre is Oslo S, also known as Oslo Central Station.


If you’re flying into Oslo, you’ll most likely arrive at this Oslo Airport Gardermoen (OSL) and need to get to the city centre.

There are several options for getting from the airport to Oslo S, including:

1. Train (Vy (cheaper) or Flytoget (faster))

Vy is a regional train operator in Norway. Vy operates trains between the airport and Oslo S, but the journey takes longer around 27-30 minutes. Vy trains run more frequently than Flytoget and stop at additional stations along the way, but the travel time is longer because of the additional stops.

Please make sure you are buying the ticket from the correct ticketing booth. The one that is seen in the picture (in centre) is the right one for Vy trains.

The ticketing machine will prompt you that the ticket is not valid for Flytoget.

The ticket for 2 adults sums to 236 NOK. It is not cheap but it is a relatively affordable, fuss-free and quick way to get to the city centre.

Flytoget (230 NOK, 20mins)

The quickest and most convenient option is to take the airport express train (Flytoget) from the airport to Oslo S. The train takes approximately 20 minutes to get from the airport to the city centre and departs every 10-20 minutes.

Each ticket for Flytoget cost 230 NOK. It is half-price for youths, students and seniors.

2. Bus

Another option is to take the airport bus (Flybussen) from the airport to Oslo S. The bus takes approximately 45 minutes to get from the airport to the city centre and departs every 20-30 minutes. Buses run 24/7 and tickets can be purchased online or at the bus stop in the airport terminal.

3. Taxi

If you prefer a more private mode of transportation, you can take a taxi from the airport to Oslo S. The taxi ride takes approximately 30-45 minutes, depending on traffic, and can be arranged at the taxi stand in the airport terminal


Regardless of your transportation mode, getting from Oslo Airport to Oslo S is a straightforward and convenient process. The airport is located approximately 47 kilometres from the city centre, so you’ll be in the heart of the city in no time.
