At Frankie and Fern’s, up on the roof of Holland Village Shopping Centre, you’ll find a cool little spot that’s all about serving up some seriously tasty dishes without any fuss. The grilled tiger prawns with yuzu kosho butter are a highlight, while the baby squid with lemongrass curry aioli is perfect for snacking. The duck croquettes and pan-seared halibut impress, but the Hamachi collar falls short. Overall, it’s a solid choice for quality, laid-back dining.

Grilled Tiger Prawns ($18)
Kicking things off, the grilled tiger prawns were huge! Seriously, good value for what you’re paying, and that yuzu kosho butter they throw on top? Chef’s kiss. It’s the kind of starter that makes you excited for what’s coming next.

Baby Squid ($14)
Then there were these fried baby squids. They come out crispy and with this lemongrass curry aioli that’s pretty dang good. Great for munching on while you chat and hang out.

Duck Croquettes ($13)
The duck croquettes were next, and they’re this warm, creamy surprise inside a crispy shell. It’s like every bite’s got a little secret to tell you. Really good stuff.

Pan-Seared Halibut ($27)
Now, the pan-seared halibut was something else. Cooked just right with some creamy mashed potatoes and mussel veloute on the side. It’s a hearty dish that feels like you’re getting more than your money’s worth.

Hamachi Collar ($32)
Last up was the Hamachi collar. This one’s a bit of a mixed bag. It’s got this Indonesian twist, which is interesting, but didn’t really knock us off, especially after the halibut.

Frankie and Fern’s is a great spot if you’re looking for a laid-back place with some quality food. Most of the dishes were hits, and even though the Hamachi collar wasn’t our favourite, the meal was still pretty solid. It’s definitely worth checking out if you’re in the area.
